The problem with reading lots of Northern-Hemisphere based blogs is the difference in season between here and there. While I am looking for summer inspiration and soaking up the sun September through to March, all my favorite bloggers are talking snow, hot chocolate and indoor activities.
This doesn't really get to me, but when the calendar turns and you start seeing pictures of Peonies in the Paris flower markets (like the one above, from Oh Happy Day!) and talk of warmer weather and summer fashions, I start to feel a teeny tiny but jealous.
But what can you do. At least it's nice to know what the next season's trends will be, I tell myself, and it's a good reminder that this autumn/winter season too will pass.
In a baby update, I'm 35 weeks today. Babies are approximately 2kgs each and doing well, so I just have to hang in there for 3 and a bit more weeks. It feels like forever, and I've entered into that lovely later-pregnancy limbo state where I don't want to do anything or go anywhere, but know I will be suffering from severe cabin fever very shortly, and so need to take every opportunity to go places and do things.
I've tried to do as much prep as possible, the present cupboard is stocked and now I just need to get on to cooking a few freezer meals. But I am still filled with self-doubt: Do I have enough receiving blankets? Baby grows? Toiletries for everyone? Nappies? My grocery bill looks like I'm anticipating a nuclear apocalypse, and the pantry is bursting at the seams.
Surely I will get to leave the house again? Surely I'll have a bit more of a clue than I did the last time?
Here's hoping.
